Truglo Fiber Optic Sights for Glock

A great upgrade to the already great gun is a set of TruGlo fiber optic sights. Fiber optic sights are a useful add-on that helps draw the eye to the sights for accurate shot placement by focusing light into a single round point. What's better than fiber optic sights alone is combining them with self-illuminating tritium, the same stuff in military equipment used in low light conditions.

Left to right sights: TFO; FO; TFO

For Glocks, there are really three types in a couple of color combinations. The first model is their Tritium Fiber Optic (TFO) in a green front/yellow rear combo or a green/green combo. The other option is straight tritium in green/green only. The last model is fiber optic only in a red front/green rear setup. I do not have a set of tritium only but rather TFOs and fiber optic only.

The TFO sights work really well in any light conditions from bright sun to a dark room. At the range they really gather up the light and make the front sight pickup quite easy. The bright spot also helps you maintain focus on a clear front sight tip which is critical for accurate shot placement at distance. I've use them to ding steel plates at a 100 yards--they work. In the dark they glow like they are suppose to do without overpowering your night vision--good home defense uses.

Besides considering what model to buy, the other consideration is the width of the Glock slide. The two slide sizes are normal, for 9mm and 40 S&W variants including .357 Sig, and large for the .45 calibers and 10mm.

The Glock OEM rear sights are pushed out and replaced by a rear sight tool such as the one from Glockmeister. The OEM front sight is held in place by a little friction and a really small screw. There's another tool to remove that too.  You can pick up the sights most anywhere online. I buy most of my parts for Glock from Brownells. The shopping links are on the right of the page. Setting up an account with Brownells will get you more than a 10% discount. No military or LE affiliation is required.
