Ammo Price Gouging Everywhere

Are you kidding me?!
I guess some internet retailers of ammo think that it's okay to bend you over on the ammo. Granted it's been in short supply because of hoarding. These jackholes at Alamo Ammo think they are giving you a good deal. A box of Russian Tula .223 Ammo before the greatest gun buying panic ever (thanks to those gun-grabbing, ivory tower living, politicians) was less than $9 for a box of 20. Now they trying to sell it for more than three times that! Are you f'ing kidding me!! I hesitated to buy the good Hornady .223 stuff if it was more than $20 just a few months ago.

Cheaper than Dirt was just one of the first to kick off this nonsense back earlier this year when they started selling Magpul 30-rd magazines for almost $60, now they're up to about $80. Before DiFi and her misfits created the big AWB scare they were less than $20. A Boycott Cheaper than Dirt Facebook ensued and had more than 17,000 likes. I just hope that yahoos are not dumb enough to buy this overpriced crap. If they do they are just creating the demand that will keep the prices high for a long time. Just like an elephant, I don't forget.

National Firearms Act of 1934

The National Firearms Act (NFA) of 1934 requires certain firearms to be registered with the Secretary of the Treasury, more specifically, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (BATFE). According to the Bureau, the following must be registered:

Remington 870 All Kitted Up

Lipstick on a pig
Every good gun collection should have at least one shotgun in it. Why not an 870? The Remington 870 is one of the most common pump-action shotguns out there with no end of accessories, add-ons, and upgrades. You can find a version of your liking a lot easier than finding ammo for your AR-15 these days. Versions vary from traditional wood furniture to camo'd up duck slayers. I picked this one up more than a year ago and began to kit it up.

Senator DiFi Wants to 'Dry up the Supply'

The LA Times published an article about the recent introduction of the 2013 version of the AWB by DiFi (Senator Feinstein) and crew. She wants to "dry up the supply of these weapons over time." These weapons she speaks of are those black scary ARs that many of us own legally and that she refers to as assault weapons. Well that's great and all but these tools should realize that when they started talking about an new AWB more than a month ago, they increased the demand of these modern sporting rifles and at least doubled their value. They helped move these guns off the shelf of the dealers and into the hands of more Americans (a good thing in my opinion). I'm sure that's not the effect they were looking to achieve. They helped spur a rifle and ammo buying frenzy that has been really unsurpassed in recent times. Way to go dummies.

Hopefully there are enough vocal constituents and pro-gun lobbyists out there that will help kill this bill before it's even close to seeing the light of day. Then, maybe, I can finally get my hands on some ammo and those jackasses can focus on more pressing issues.

Assault Weapons Ban-2013 Edition

Those smart and well-informed politicians up in Washington are still at it. Leading the "assault" by chipping away at the Second Amendment with a new AWB is Diane Feinstein a.k.a. DiFi, as she is less affectionately referred to in many of the pro-gun blogs out there. Full text of this proposed crap legislation can be found on the Senator's page.

NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course

Springfield 1911A1 and Ruger Blackhawk
When it comes to shooting, I'm always learning and wanting to know more. Another thing I like doing is sharing the learned shooting skills and techniques. A first time owner or beginner to pistols should really look at taking a basic pistol course. There are plenty out there. Some just right for the beginner and others that try to make you a tacti-cool fool. To the noob's benefit, the NRA has a network of certified pistol instructors across the United States that teach basic pistol shooting. Finding one is as easy as searching the course listings for your area.

Concealed Carry Reciprocity Maps

These blue states honor AZ resident permit
Ever want to know which states will honor your concealed carry permit or CCW? Check out USA Carry to give you an idea of how far reaching your permit will allow you to carry. The interactive map allows you to select the state and type of permit (resident/non-resident) if it applies then shows where your permit is honored. I did one for an Arizona resident permit for the pic above. I wouldn't expect the communist states in the northeast or left coast to honor anything other than a weapons ban and magazine capacity limits. As always, check with the destination state laws to be sure.

Gun Action Camera: Contour+2

It's been a long time coming, but I finally broke down and bought a cool action camera for the range and general shooting. I did some research and came to the conclusion, the  Contour+2 action camera was for me. The best camera for my purpose, mostly shooting, had to be lightweight, low-profile, easy to mount to Picatinny rails, and HD capable. The Contour+2 has that and then some.

Gun-Grabbing News Interviewer Gets Schooled

I came across this television interview that was shared out on YouTube and aired on January 13th. An interviewer from the West Virginia "The State Journal's Decision Makers," talks to the West Virginia Citizens Defense League (WVCDL) President, Keith Morgan, and gets "schooled" about assault weapons and how misinformed, uneducated, and isolated many media personalities really are to include the interviewer. These are the same personalities that interject their opinions to the masses from their ivory towers isolated from reality.

Keith Morgan is calm, collected, and well-versed which catches the interviewer off guard. Mr. Morgan is a good public voice for pro-gun silent types.

World's Finest Case Trimmer

Anything that helps make your life easier when it comes to reloading is worth looking into, especially when it comes to case prep. Not too long ago, a friend of mine purchased a trimming tool called the World's Finest Trimmer (WFT) made by Little Crow Gunworks. It's used to trim resized cases and do it quickly and consistently over many other manual options. On top of that, it's powered by your drill. I had to get my hands on one and see for myself.

Truglo Fiber Optic Sights for Glock

A great upgrade to the already great gun is a set of TruGlo fiber optic sights. Fiber optic sights are a useful add-on that helps draw the eye to the sights for accurate shot placement by focusing light into a single round point. What's better than fiber optic sights alone is combining them with self-illuminating tritium, the same stuff in military equipment used in low light conditions.

Semi-Auto Pistol Shooting Fundamentals

Pistol shooting proficiency comes with time and correct practice. The right way of shooting has to happen early before bad habits have a chance to set in. Repetitive trigger time at the range and dry firing at home  allows the fundamentals of proper pistol shooting to codify. At least three semi-auto pistol shooting fundamentals need to be emphasized over and over, on and off the range.

Book Review: Collision Course

I was in the Exchange the other day checking out gun magazines--the periodicals--not the ammo feeding devices and the small book section. There was a paperback titled Collision Course by David Crawford. It had another label on the cover, "A Novel of Survival." I never heard of the author but apparently he wrote another that preceded this title called Lights Out.
